Southern hospitality and Midwestern warmth welcome guests to Blessing on State Bed & Breakfast in Jacksonville, Illinois. Located in the heart of the town’s historic district, the all-suite B&B is convenient for tourists as well as visitors to Illinois College, Governor Duncan Mansion, and the Illinois School for the Deaf.
The bed and breakfast is a dream fulfilled for Innkeeper Gwenn Eyer, who grew up in a small town with no hotels, and in a home that welcomed overnight visitors. To her, innkeeping is being attentive to guests’ needs and desires, providing those little extras that make a stay special.
In addition to personal attention, the historic home itself will make a guest feel special. Built in the late 1880’s, Blessings on State oozes charm. A lovely front porch with white wicker furniture beckons guests to kick off their shoes and relax. Beds of flowers surround the home in a colorful display. Inside rooms maintain many of the period details, and furnishings blend traditional touches, such as antique chandeliers, with casually elegance pieces.
The inn has two guests suites—one with a king bed, one with a queen—each uniquely decorated.
Both feature luxury linens, modern baths, plush robes, and private sitting areas. Delicious multi-course breakfasts accompany a stay and guests can enjoy them in the formal dining room or, weather permitting, in the gazebo. For those who wish to sleep in, they can choose the Suite Retreat option and have breakfast in bed!
Jacksonville is a delightful town, just a short drive from Springfield, Illinois, with good restaurants, nice shops, and a park with a local-made Ferris wheel. The area offers some of the best bass fishing in the state.
