It’s hard to imagine a place of peace in solitude smack in the heart of busy Chicago, but that’s just what you’ll enjoy at the Benedictine Bed & Breakfast.
Benedictine B&B is located in the Bridgeport neighborhood, just south of the Chicago loop and a great location for sightseeing. It’s also home to the Chicago White Sox, a plus for baseball fans. It may seem unusual to have monks as your hosts, but it comes naturally to the order, who for centuries were the hoteliers of Europe. Guests who stay here will feel welcomed with attentive service and a beautiful setting.
The B&B is tucked away on the grounds of the Monastery of the Holy Cross, home to the Benedictine monks. While the monastery buildings date to the 1850’s, the lodging is in a renovated area and offers modern comforts.
Visitors have a choice of a Garden House apartment or a Loft apartment. Both accommodations are generous—sleeping up to six individuals—making them ideal getaways for families or friends traveling together. The Garden features two bedrooms, bath, a large living room/dining room area, and full kitchen stocked with all the makings of a full breakfast. An outdoor deck offers a nice place to sip coffee or relax in the evenings. The Loft has three bedrooms, living room, dining room, and kitchenette. Guests who stay here will receive a hot breakfast prepared by the monks.
The B&B has free, off-street parking, making it easy for guests to leave their car and grab a bus, taxi, or Uber into downtown.
